Establishing coordinated system-wide health, safety, and emergency response protocols for a corporation with offices on a national and global scale

Annuvia, Inc, San Francisco, CA, Fri, 2008-06-20

Client Issue

A rapidly growing Fortune 100 corporation had a fragmented system of providing health, safety, and emergency response. Their program involved many vendors and was marked by a lack of standardization from facility to facility. Curriculum and training lacked consistency, quality, and centralization. Hundreds of invoices came from multiple individual vendors many of whom were lacking the administrative staff necessary to offer sufficient customer support in the forms of favorable invoicing terms and site specific consistent training. A sustainable and scalable solution with the capability to grow with the company was needed to offer coordinated protocol and curriculum development, legal compliance, and improved health and safety for employees. System-wide Automated External Defibrillator (AED) programs and training in their use was needed to provide workplace safety and meet legal compliance standards.

Solution

Annuvia’s global resources and relationships with all major AED and health and safety equipment manufacturers uniquely positioned it to establish centralized programming and training for this company. Annuvia consultants began by analyzing the current program. Protocols were developed utilizing industry standards and curriculum was developed to implement the protocols, taking into account the unique attributes of the client. Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) were formed with the support of Annuvia Program Managers. That support included team recruitment, orientation, training, and ongoing program management.

Annuvia oversees and manages the entire safety training program, coordinating with each site throughout the nation. Instructors provided by Annuvia implement training courses including Incident Command, Radio Communication, Medical Emergency Response and Patient Assessment, Basic Fire Suppression (incipient stage), among others. Teams take part in this instruction through live drills, with a focus on quality improvement.

Because of its relationships with all major manufactures, Annuvia is uniquely positioned to design, implement, and maintain a system wide AED program for each location in accord with local and state compliance regulations. Support to ensure medical and legal compliance is ongoing, including public awareness campaigns as a component of this support.

Results

With centralized, consistent programs and training in place, the company has been able to respond in a proactive, competent way to more than one hundred emergencies including chemical spills, fire incidents, and medical issues ranging from diabetic reactions to multi-system traumas using the protocols and training provided by Annuvia. Several thousand employees have been successfully trained in the established protocols throughout the nation by Annuvia’s instructors. Once fragmented and disjointed, the company is now proud of its health, safety and emergency response record.
